We have today received the very sad news from Prof.Andrea B. Pembe at Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) that Sebalda Leshabari has died.
Sebalda has been a close colleague of CIH for two decades. She defended her doctoral dissertation at CIH in 2008: ‘Infant feeding in the context of HIV infection: Mothers’ experiences and program implications for maternal and child health services in Tanzania.’
Later, she has been central to CIH’s collaboration in Tanzania, in particular the development of master’s degrees and research collaboration in nursing and midwifery at MUHAS.
Sebalda also had a large international network and was for several years an adviser in the WHO’s work to prepare guidelines for maternity care and the maternity period in HIV-positive women.
Her passing is a great loss to many of us. Our thoughts go to her immediate family, colleagues, and friends.
